Free Excel workbook
Takeoff spreadsheets for drywall, concrete and rebar
One Excel workbook with a tab for each trade. Type what you read off the drawings; the sheets do the arithmetic, with the sheet number kept on every line.
What's in it
Drywall and steel studs
Wall type, sheet, length, height, stud spacing, layers each side, sides boarded and openings. Worked out: wall area, board in square feet, 4 × 8 sheets, layout studs and track.
Concrete
Element, mark, sheet, count, length, width and depth. Worked out: cubic yards and cubic metres, and the order rounded to the half yard.
Rebar in CSA sizes
Bar mark, size (10M to 55M), sheet, count and length. Worked out: total metres and kilograms from the CSA nominal masses, and tonnes.
How to use them
- Type what the drawings say in the white columns: lengths, heights, counts, marks and the sheet each came from.
- Waste starts at 0 on every tab, so nothing is added unless you type it.
- They size nothing. Stud gauge and spacing, footing sizes, slab thickness and bar sizes come from the drawings and the engineer.
- Opens in Excel, Google Sheets, Numbers and LibreOffice.
