What it takes off
Walls
Studs and track at your spacing, board by the sheet on one side or both in as many layers as the type says, batts, tape, compound to the level of finish, corner bead, backing, access panels, primer and paint.
Partition types from the drawings
The partition legend is read into wall types — stud, spacing, board, layers, insulation and rating — for you to check before you use them.
Doors, windows and ceilings
Door and window sizes and types are read from the schedules, and ceiling types from the ceiling legend, with how many rooms the finish schedule gives each. Paint codes from the finish legend can go straight onto a wall type.
Wall suggestions (beta)
On every paid plan, walls are suggested from a CAD drawing's lines, marked in red, for you to check and confirm one at a time. They miss walls and mark things that are not walls; you draw the rest.
Addenda without starting over
A revised set is compared with the one it replaces, sheet by sheet. Only the changed sheets are read, and takeoff rows from a changed sheet are flagged until you check them.
Your prices, your crews
Materials are priced from your supplier quotes and price book, labour from your own crews' production rates, and the proposal your client reads keeps your markup inside the unit prices.
What it does not do
- Wall suggestions miss walls and mark things that are not walls. They are a beta you check and confirm one by one; otherwise you draw the walls.
- It reads the text on the drawings; it does not count symbols.
- It publishes no accuracy figure — every quantity shows its working so you can check it yourself.
Questions estimators ask
- Can it read my partition types?
- Yes, when the drawings print a partition legend or schedule. Each type is shown with what it read — stud, spacing, board, layers, insulation, rating — and saved as a wall type once you have checked it.
- Does it do ceilings?
- Yes. Grid ceilings buy main tees, cross tees, wall angle, hanger wire and tile; gypsum ceilings buy channel, board, tape, compound and paint. Ceiling types can be made from the ceiling legend on the drawings.
- Is it for commercial or residential work?
- It was built for commercial and ICI interiors, where drawings carry partition types and schedules, and it works on houses too.
